ZERO NEUF RUNNING RETREAT

BY michael doughty
If you were asked why you run, how would you answer? “for my well being, my mental health, because the running community rocks, the connection to nature, escapism, the pursuit of something”.
Perhaps it’s all of these things and more but when asked where you run, your answer is largely dictated by where you live, and for those residing in cities, the limiting factors can be frustrating. If the question was rephrased and you were asked where would you like to run, how would you answer?Whether you’re a first timer or an experienced runner, they’ve got you covered. Lace up and there’s an endless network of routes right from the front door and to get you moving in the right direction, they’ve hired the region’s best guides.

They’ll take you to some of the area’s most spectacular running terrain; from the magic of the Pyrénées in the Haute Ariège to mystical local forests, quiet country roads, farmland tracks, trails and riverside rambles.
For the post run routine there’s a salt water swimming pool and the river l’Hers passes the bottom of the garden; perfect for a post run dip. There are inviting gardens with uninterrupted views of the high mountains beyond, perfect for yoga and meditation (mats are provided). Inside the lovingly restored farmhouse, you’ll find spacious ensuite rooms each with their own individual character, along with the Cowshed Café which provides a lovely setting for delicious home cooked meals, whilst its upstairs mezzanine lounge is perfect for kicking back and chilling out. The super-friendly dogs, cats and free-roaming hens seal the deal.
It truly is a runner's paradise.
